Intelligent Total Chlorine and Free Chlorine Analyzers For Simple, Precise, Reliable Measurement

Ideal for Municipal Water and Wastewater Chlorination Treatment Systems

Free Chlorine AnalyzersAnaheim, CA—November 7, 2016—Municipal water treatment process engineers and technicians will find the advanced modular TC80 Total Chlorine and FC80 Free Chlorine Analyzers from Electro-Chemical Devices combine plug-n-play capability for fast set-up, highly reliable accuracy and replacement sensor cartridges for economical maintenance

In drinking water disinfection systems, chlorine is commonly added to remove disease causing organisms.  When the chlorine is added to the water in a treatment facility, some of the chlorine first reacts with organic materials and metals, which leaves it unavailable for disinfection.  This state is typically known as chlorine demand of the water.

The chlorine that remains after accounting for chlorine demand is known as total chlorine (TC).  It consists of the amount of chlorine that has reacted with nitrates (unavailable for disinfection), which are called combined chlorine, and the amount of free chlorine (FC) that is available to treat disease causing organisms.

The measurements of both total chlorine and free chlorine are vitally important in the effective operation of water disinfection systems.  ECD’s intelligent TC80 and FC80 Sensors offer reliable measurement of both parameters along with its modular two-channel T80 Transmitter/Analyzer.

Both the TC80 and FC80 Analyzers are compliant with EPA method 334.0 for measuring drinking water. They feature heavy-duty three electrode amperometric chlorine sensors with a gold cathode, silver halide anode and 304 SS counter electrode. The counter electrode provides a stable base potential that minimizes drift.

The TC80 Analyzer monitors total chlorine in drinking water, rinse water, cooling water or other fresh water samples. The measurement range is from 0.05 – 20 ppm chlorine as the standard range or 0.005 – 2.000 ppm with the low range sensor.

The FC80 Analyzer  monitors free chlorine in drinking water, rinse water, cooling water or other fresh water samples.  The measurement range is from 0.05 – 20 ppm chlorine as the standard range or 0.01 – 5.00 ppm with the low range sensor.

The plug-n-play T80 Analyzer/Transmitter along with the TC80 and FC80 Sensors all install quickly right out of the box.  The TC80 Analyzer/Transmitter’s advanced panel mount design includes built-in flow control, which eliminates the need for complicated pressure regulators and rotometers. Connect the sample and drain lines, connect the power and outputs and the system is ready to use.  Built-in automatic pH compensation also eliminates the need for expensive reagents to reduce maintenance and life-cycle costs

The T80 Analyzer/Transmitter is available with either 110-240 VAC or 24 VDC power.  Parameters can be graphically displayed with user defined line, bar or gauge style graphs. The standard configuration has two 4-20 mA outputs, three alarm relays and a MODBUS RTU.

An auto-clean option is available that includes a solenoid actuated spray cleaner using either 30 psi process water or air. An easily adjusted timer controls the period and duration of the cleaning cycle.
